Walter Payton was more versatile (as well as a runner, a punt returner, blocking back, reciever)
Payton fan giving props to Barry. Best pure elusive runner. That guy was had probably the best balance. Always thought he was like a spider with invisible legs.
Like some of the rest of you I remember watching OJ, Dickerson, Payton, and just barely Jim Brown. Some were incredible brusiers ie Brown, others supersonic fast like OJ & Eric. And I am a huge A.P. fan, but no one, nobody could shake & bake like Barry. Yes best of all time in my mind.
Sure, great running back. But the best ever? Close to it but no. Ever heard of a guy named Adrian Peterson? Was Heisman runner-up as a true freshman.

you can't get better than that! I'm a huge Dallas fan and loved emmitt, but the record means nothing when talking about the greatest back ever to play the game...hands down, it goes to BARRY SANDERS!
